This marks the first of many ‘snow globe’ nail looks you will see over the coming months, when the cold weather kicks in I love glitter over a pale coloured polish and the combinations are endless! A Cut Above has been an Essie top coat I’ve lusted after since I discovered Essie almost 2 years ago.. it had been part of a previous collection and I couldn’t find it anywhere so imagine my excitement when it relaunched for the holidays 2013. The whole christmas collection ‘luxe effects’ is a copy of 2011′s launch and the only thing I can think is that they’ve reformulated it for the diffusion line in Boots and Superdrug because it’s not usual to relaunch something in that timeframe. Either way I finally got my mitts on the chunky rose gold glitter so who cares?
Unlike some glitter top coats this gives a really even distribution of both chunky and smaller metallic pieces so it’s perfect eveytime. You could probably build it up to an opaque glitter look but ugh.. who has time for that? Besides I think this is more effective anyway! If you really wanted to go for the gold on gold look I’d suggest applying it over the Essie Foil in Penny Talk – perfection! I have another similar swatch coming of a Maybelline polish that is this and so much more so if you’re umming and ahhing and would rather have something opaque watch this space cause that’s cheaper and you might even prefer it.
